Hi -- I'm staying at La Perouse in Old Town Nice next month, wondering if there is a place where I can drop off laundry one day and pick up the next, ideally near the hotel or else near the Nice Ville train station? (prices at the hotel itself are higher than the replacement cost of the clothes, honestly).
Hi from Wisconsin,
This is not a drop off pick up later suggestion. When we are in France we do our laundry at shopping centers. Like a Lidl. A taxi out with your clothes. They have huge machines, washers and dryers. We would dump our clothes in a machine, go into the store and see what they have that we don't, like Duck Confit in a can. Then we head out and move our clothes to the dryer and go back in and eat some of the worst food in France. A bit like eating out at home. Collect our clothes and head on.
By the way, the machines are usually outside the building so they are available 24 hr/day
It does shoot a couple hours. But we are always amused at what is for sale in a Grocery.

I’m with Waynern with the do it yourself laundromat. When in vieux Nice, I’ve used Top Speed laundry on 14rue de la Buffa. It’s in a great location so while my laundry is washing there are plenty of options to pop into for a bit to eat, a gallery to explore or an aperitif to savor within the block. Or visit the St. Nicholas Cathedral, a 15 minute walk away while your duds suds. Everything is included in the wash ( no detergent needed) and there’s English instructions. Easy peasy.
These are not common, surprisingly. There are traditional laundromats (laverie automatique) in the Old Town. There is a drop-off service place on rue DalPozzo but I don't know the service turnaround time.
