Anyone travel to France from the USA that can tell me the latest covid requirements? Leaving 4/26 and curious as to what we need to be preparing…..still need our vac and booster cards updated to take to France and a negative test to re-enter the US on 5/12?
Your airline will make it very clear and probably have you load the information required ahead of time: We are leaving this week and we uploaded our passports, our vaccination records and completed a locater form. No tests are required for entry although they CAN require one on arrival. (I assume they don't unless the person is actually showing signs of illness). There is one locater form per family and that process works well. There are 3 of us and we all have different last names and that process went perfectly smoothly; there was room for all the necessary information for each name. The airline provided the link to the form and has it linked to our reservation.
And as you note, coming back the US is still requiring a COVID test within one day of entry. Annoying. Obviously useless at this point in the epidemic and of course an added expense. But they are very easy to get in Paris. We did this in October and it took 15 minutes and we uploaded it again to our airline site and showed the paperwork at checkin.
If I am flying Delta will Delta send me this form? I am already signed up on the STEP program…….so do we wait for Delta to contact us for this info or google the DELTA LOCATER FORM and fill it out ourselves? Thanks for your help…..BTW, have a great trip……we are going to the Dordogne and I have enjoyed your trip pics of your trip there!
Just an update for folks traveling with Delta. We just got home late last night.... We uploaded all our documents as well before hand... didn't help 1 bit. We had to show paper copies of everything, passports, etc. I would still upload your docs... but do not count on it helping out very much.
Also as a side note, I would get to the airport AT LEAST 3.5 hrs early, maybe 4. It was a nightmare getting out of CDG. Passport control took forever, then security, etc. We got there 3 hrs 20 min early, and needed every minute.
Conversely, when we arrived, we were through customs in less than 5 minutes.
Oh, to answer the question, going just your normal passport, etc, and the locator form. Coming home, You need a Negative Covid test, that all the pharmacy's do (was 20 euros on weekday - more if on Sunday, and less places do it evidently). By the way, I also uploaded our negative Covid tests, was accepted by Delta about 10 hrs later... and didn't matter - still had to show all paperwork.
Glenn
Glenn's probably still jet-lagged a bit....you actually need a NEGATIVE Covid test, lol as you mentioned in your original post!
But thanks for the update on flying with Delta. I have had difficulty uploading my stuff to the Delta FlyReady app anyway.
Here is the link on the Delta site that is not on the FlyReady app. You fill out the information and it takes you to a link to the European PLF. I'm filling it out today, lol!
Thanks for that useful info Glenn. We're flying Air France but booked through Delta, where we uploaded all our docs. Will be sure to have printouts ready for EVERYTHING.
:-), edited my post for NEGATIVE as opposed to POSITIVE lol.
Glenn
Glenn, did you print out your PLF for France?
Yes, we printed everything, including the PLF.
Another interesting note, wrt the locator form, Delta hands these out on the plane. When we mentioned we filled out online and it is uploaded on Delta site, the flight attendant looked at me with a blank stare... so then I handed the printout. At first she did not want to accept that either, and said it has to be the one they handed out. I calmly mentioned that this is the form the delta site indicates we have to fill out, and although it "looks different", it is all the same info. She went with that and collected it.
I should note as well, I also bring electronic copies of everything as well. I use tripit Pro, and also attach everything there. I have traveled internationally extensively for work, so have learned not to take anything for granted - especially when it is my vacation lol.
Glenn
Glenn, interesting about the PLF. Thanks for the additional information. I will not sweat filling it out! And big old eyeroll at the FA wanting you to fill out their form. I have learned to carry a couple of pens and a pencil where I can get at them on the plane, lol!
So glad I read this! The Delta Flyready will not accept my Vac card, just my husband's. I started to fill out the other form, but it didn't like my answers. I'll do it at the airport, kill some time.
FlyReady should tell you why it didn't accept a vax card. Maybe it's something you can fix. It rejected my wife's because "birth date doesn't match passport." Turns out her CDC card never had her DOB so I wrote just it in and that worked.
Though, per this thread, might not be worth the effort.
This FlyReady thing is CRAZY…..i got through but it will not let my husband login….keeps telling me it is invalid……same password every time and it will not let us get past the login page……so he just fills this out at the airport?
Yes, he can do it there or as Glenn said, they passed out the PLF on the plane.
You can also go directly to the EU PLF page and do it there, then you'll receive an email with a QR code. I just completed this an hour or so ago. You need to set up an account first (just have to give an email and choose a password). Then They email you a link from which you sign back into the webpage. Fill out the form from there and submit. You'll receive another email with your QR code. It has an option to open as a PDF which I did and then saved that on my iPhone in notes, took a screen shot and printed it out for good measure.
I did NOT get it loaded into the FlyReady app because I couldn't get in there. I'm done with the app. I'll just have everything on paper or a digital copy.
Thank you Pam….we got it thanks to your help!!!!
Jane, I 'm glad it worked out! I only figured out how to do it by reading others' previous posts....so it takes a village and all that, hahaha!
