Last night in Paris convenient to CDG

We will be returning to Paris from Amboise the evening before we flight back home. Any suggestions where to stay, for convienent travel to CDG in the morning. This will be in mid October during the Rugby World Cup, There is already limited availability. Please help. Mid-range budget, maybe near a good dinner spot and a last evening in Paris stroll.

Thank you all so much.

There are fixed-rate taxis. It’s slightly cheaper if you’re staying north of the Seine.

If you intend to travel to the airport by public transit, i.e. RER B line, I suggest you find a place close to an RER B stop. Somewhere near Luxembourg stop should be quite convenient coming from Amboise (close to either Montparnasse or Austerlitz station coming in, and a lovely area for a stroll). Nearby Port Royal would also be okay if cheaper.

If you would rather take a cab to the airport, then I would just pick anywhere that is not too far from the station you are arriving at which is either Montparnasse or Austerlitz. If Austerlitz, perhaps cross the river to Bastille/gare de Lyon as the Austerlitz area is really quite dead in terms of restaurants.

Either stay at one of the hotels on the airport or somewhere along the RER B such as near les Halls, which has numerous hotels and restaurants.

There is a Novatel Hotel at les Halls, no idea what mid-range is in euros.

My husband and I will be staying two nights in September at Hotel Relais Montmartre which is recommended by RS in his latest Paris guidebook and by some on this forum (https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/france/le-relais-montmartre-hotel). It is 27 kilometers from CDG. The 18th arrondissement is one of the closest to CDG and does not involve the traffic that the central arrondissements would.
I usually book directly through the hotel, but this time I used Booking.com because it had a great cancellation policy that the hotel did not but for the same price .
We are paying @ 270 Euros per night. It looks as though it is now @325-350 Euros per night during the Rugby WC.

We also wanted to be able to spend our last two nights in Paris (having arrived from Lyon) before returning home by strolling and having access to wonderful restaurants. Usually we only spend half day in Montmartre and wanted more time to discover it a bit more.

Good luck!

Since we usually have a mid-late morning flight back and I like to leave nothing to chance, we have stayed at the Hotel Ibis Paris CDG Airport. It is a very short walk (about half a block) from the RER station and a similarly short walk to the shuttle train to Terminal 2. There is a Novotel and a couple others in the immediate area, you can take a look on Google Maps for Paris CDG.

A last evening stroll may be nice but when I am 2500 miles from home with flights as tight as they are post pandemic I leave nothing to chance.
