We have decided to extend our trip in Europe.We are coming from Amsterdam 6/12 , taking a train to France, wanting to rent a car and explore Loire valley for a week. We will be flying home from Brussels, so just need to train back there at the end.
Where would you pick up a car? We have international drivers licenses. I'm not too keen on renting out of CDG... Recommendations for a starting point would be helpful... this is "winging it" on a whole new level but we are up for an adventure. Have ordered Rick's book on France ... coming today.
Any ideas on inexpensive hotels, b n b s would great as well... Thank you in advance !

It strikes me that Lille would be a good place to rent your car - train (Eurostar among others) from Amsterdam to there, and to Brussels at the end.

We used Sixt and picked up a car in Brussels……besides the car being 4 floors underground at the Brussels train station all was fine. LOVE the Loire Valley…….go to Amboise!

Many people pick up and return their cars in Tours in the Loire Valley after taking the train from Paris. For you it would be Amsterdam to Paris to Tours. The train is faster than driving but you have to change train stations in Paris.
