Daughter and I are headed to Paris on Saturday for a whirl wind 4 days to celebrate my 70th birthday, a bit of a quick decision. A couple questions please
- best card for use of bus and metro, not likely to use train in short time
- following the weather and trying to decide on footwear. I see some rain etc, but no snow on the ground or expected? Will determine foot wear.
- I can try for reservations for entry to Notre Dame, do you think necessary mid month February or try for walk up?
- Thanks all.
When you leave baggage claim, follow the (English) signs for taxis, ignoring anyone who asks you on the way. It’s a flat rate to the city, €56 or €65 depending on whether you’re going to the Left or Right Bank.
Buy a Navigo Easy card (€2) and load it with as many tickets (rides) as you think you’ll use. You each need one. Easy peasy.
Wear something waterproof on your feet. Nothing worse than wet feet.
I’ve seen many reports of no lines at Notre Dame, and even when there is a line, it moves quickly,
-I walk a lot when I visit European cites. In winter I usually wear my low hiking shoes and pack a pair of sneakers to give my feet a break every few days.
-Unless someone chimes in who actually knows, I'd probably err on the side of caution and make reservations for Notre Dame.
Have a great trip!
It sounds like you and your daughter have an exciting trip to Paris planned, especially to celebrate your 70th birthday! Here are some suggestions regarding your questions that I hope will help:
Public Transport Card: In Paris, the most convenient card for short-term visitors is the "Navigo Easy" card. You can purchase it at the metro station, and once loaded, it can be used for buses and the metro, making it very easy to get around.
Footwear Choice: The weather in Paris in February is usually quite cold, with temperatures ranging from 0°C to 8°C (32°F to 46°F), and there might be some rain. Therefore, I recommend wearing waterproof and comfortable shoes, like sneakers or waterproof boots, so you can stay dry and warm even if it rains.
Reservations for Notre Dame: While February sees fewer tourists, making a reservation for entry is still a good idea, especially on weekends. This way, you can avoid wasting time in line and have more time to enjoy other attractions.
I hope these suggestions are helpful to you. Wishing you both an unforgettable birthday trip in Paris!
