Last day in Paris - logistics for day trip question

We are headed to Paris arriving on March 16th. Due to a few changes we had to make a while back, our AirBnB apartment won't be available on our last day (22nd, heading home on 23rd in AM). I booked a hotel at Golden Tulip close to the airport for the last night thinking it would be easier to truck on over to CDG on the 23rd, but we have no plans on the 22nd when we have to check out of the apt (I think C/O is 11 am).

My husband is interested in a day trip to Normandy and possibly renting a car for that. I'm also interested, but am equally interested in taking the train to Bruges for the day. We have two kids, 12 and 14, and this is their first trip overseas. Check-in to the airport hotel is at noon on 22nd, and I think they have luggage storage if we get there beforehand. Would it be much trouble to rent a car Fri-Sat (or even just for Friday) at CDG after we drop luggage off at the hotel? Would it be better to rent a car within Paris and leave from there, dropping it off Sat AM at the airport? Or would you recommend taking a train from CDG (or elsewhere) for a day trip instead? Hope this makes sense!

Your plan to head to Normandy from a CDG hotel is rather seamless. It would work well. Consider visiting Monet’s Giverney en route,
Towns of Honfleur and Bayeux( close to D-Day beaches.)
A train to Brugges would give you all an experience in a medieval canal laced town. You can’t go wrong. Sounds like you will be getting a dividend on your trip with either option!

So you plan to check out of the B&B by 11, get to the hotel near CDG and drop bags by 12. Then go to Brugge? Do you know it's about three hours each way either by train or car? That's a long way to go for a few hours there. But if you do want to do that I would do trains rather than the hassle of renting a car for just one day, and possible traffic delays. As much as I love Brugge I would never consider that. Can you check out of the B&B on the 21st and go to Brugge that day, spending the night?

What time is your flight home?
If you can book a day tour to Normandy or afternoon tour of Normandy , consider staying overnight in bayeaux and coming from there by train to CDG.

I was thinking we would check out pretty early on Friday, head to hotel to drop bags and leave for a day trip long before noon, whatever we decide. We already have plans Thursday night so we couldn't really check out of the apartment a day early.

The return flight is at 10:30 am on Saturday, so can't really stay in another town Friday night, although I wish we could!

Better option might be to rearrange you schedule in paris. Do a day trip to Normandy earlier in your stay and return to your paris accommodation. On your last day in Paris- get up early ( or have one parent) take the bags to the Golden Tulip and leave them there. Most hotles will keep your bags for later in day. Have that parent return to Paris and do whatever you have left on your list and then go out late to the Golden Tulip
