Hello,
Has anyone taken part in a language immersion program in Nantes or Bordeaux? I am looking for a one-week program in western France and will not have a car which rules out the individual homestays/immersion programs in private homes in the countryside. I'm interested in either a school or a private homestay with teacher. Thank you!

I haven't done that, but you might want to review weather data, because I think you could have somewhat different experiences. I liked both cities and was pleased not to be among thousands of other Americans. I think more UK folks may go to Bordeaux, though, because of its proximity to the Dordogne.
It didn't affect me, but I remember that another poster here commented on how early in the evening the tram (bus?) stopped running from the train station to the center of town in Bordeaux. It might have been something like 9 PM, which does seem weirdly early for European public transportation to shut down for the night. It would be a good idea to check on that; it might affect where you choose to stay if you end up going with Bordeaux.
