Landing very early in Nice - tips for freshening up and storing luggage?

We have an early‑morning arrival coming up. We are flying from the USA and will land in Nice just before 8 AM, but our Airbnb check‑in isn’t until much later in the day. I asked about early check‑in, but they said they can only confirm it if no one is staying the night before. Since we are arriving on a summer weekend, the chances of early check‑in seem slim. They also mentioned that they are unable to store luggage.

We don’t have a lot of bags, but even a couple of backpacks and small wheeled suitcases aren’t ideal to carry around for hours. We are pretty comfortable with time‑zone changes, so the time difference isn’t an issue. Our original plan was to drop off our luggage somewhere in Nice and head to Menton on the same day we land. Our friends are arriving later in the evening, and they’re not particularly interested in visiting Menton, so we wanted to make use of the time.

Are there any places in Nice where we can store luggage? Ideally, we’d take the train from the airport into Nice, store our bags, freshen up, maybe have a good brunch, and then head out to Menton for the rest of the day.

Thank you.

I salute your energy.

I have not used it, but noticed that the. Nice-Ville train station has left luggage service, so presumably you could stow your stuff there and head for Menton.

Near Menton at Rocquebrun Cap Martin there is the Corbusier Cabanon and the Eileen Gray house that can be toured -- it is well worth the time. You might want to do it with your friends or do it the day you arrive. Reservations necessary:

I would try "stasher.com". I used them when I was in Paris in summer 2024 when my airbnb wouldn't allow checkin until 3PM. They had locations all over the Paris and it worked out well for me. I dropped my bags about 9:30 AM at a hotel affiliated with slasher, and picked them up about 10PM and it was only $5-6 bucks.

Good luck

@John Adams: Oh my god! Thank you very much. This website is very helpful. Found couple of locations that are much cheaper than airport or train station luggage storage.

I would just book the room for the night before you arrive and you can go right there.

I agree with Daisy. Just add the prior night to your Airbnb. Let your host know you'll be checking in early the following morning. Then your bags are dealt with, you can freshen up and enjoy your first day.

There are also some day use hotels near the Grand Arenas stop from the airport. The tram is free to that point. You can likely stash your bags and then take the train from the Nice St. Augustin station. If you want to head to Nice Ville (train station), you can take the train there and stash your bags (at the airport, but there is also one just across the street with big signage). NannyBag and Bounce are two other sites for luggage storage. There are also some day use hotels there.

Tip: If you are not getting a pass already, get a day pass for the train system (Pass Journee). It is 20E and for 5E each you can add any fellow travelers, up to 8.

Or find a different hotel to stay at- one that can store your bags. In all my years of travel I’ve never been in a place that couldn’t stash your luggage for a few hours

They aren't staying in a hotel; one of the downsides of vacation apartments is that there is no front desk to store your bags as there is with a hotel. I'd put my stuff in a locker at the train station even if it costs a bit more rather than having it 'stashed' in some cafe. Especially true if your are stowing anything valuable like a computer.
