ladies' trip to French Riviera May 2024

Any recommendations for five days in the French Riviera in early May? Ideally we are looking for one place to stay with easy access to beaches, day trips by public transportation. Would you recommend Nice, Cannes, somewhere else? Thank you!

The beaches in Cannes are sandy (as are ones in Antibes/Juan les Pins, and a few other locales). Cannes is worse for most day trips along the coast, since it is further down. Nice has the best connections, but the beaches are pebble (but deeper and more spaced out). Just a warning, early May is a bit early in the area for the beaches.

Annie-
Take a look at the smaller Villefranche-sur-Mer. Reviews and photos available on TripAdvisor but best first hand knowledge is from the You Tube Channel: Me and Mon Ami. Richard and Tim, the hosts, have lived there for almost 20 years and provide a great commentary on beaches, public transport, restaurants and more.

Be sure to research the cruise line schedules and avoid staying there when the ships are visiting.
