I was in Paris in September for 3 weeks, and celebrated my birthday while there. I planned to use La Route des Gourmets to match me with a family for a home cooked dinner. I made the reservation in April. When I inquired about where to go for my dinner I was informed it was too early..they don't do the matches that early. Then I kept sending e-mails which she said she never received (my server checked to make sure it was sent). When I got to Paris and bought a phone one message told me the number was no longer in service...and the a voice mail was in more French than I could understand. I went twice to tourist offices for help, and finally reached the scheduler who didn't think she would be able to find me a family, because they were mostly young and like to party! What did she think I wanted to do?! (73rd birthday) She had to refund my money, but I was really dissapointed. I can't recommend this service. that's shameful that they took your money but did nothing to actually provide you the experience you paid for. I"m so glad you got your money back!!

It's always difficult when you try to "meet the French and have a meal".
Most people are young, there to network, hook up and drink...and forget the meal.
I'd go to a nice restaurant and just talk to the people at the next table.
