Has anyone connected from La Defense to get to Malmaison? Both are areas I am not familiar with, will use the metro and see the limited hours is open. I see there is an art exhibit on the grounds of La Defense which coincides with dates I am in Paris this month. Is it easy to find one’s way around La Defense? Any tips on how to find the bus stop for Malmaison is appreciated!

It is bus #258. I rather enjoyed the bus trip as it was a chance to see suburban Paris. Keep in mind that the chateau closes at noon for lunch, so plan accordingly - I believe it reopens at 1:00, but check the website to be sure. It is not a large chateau, but worth the visit and the grounds are lovely.
Do take the time to go to the top of the Grand Arch. The view is spectacular. You can see right down to the Arc du Triomphe! There is a nice cafe up there where you can get pastries and beverages. Lots of lunch spots at La Defense.
You mentioned taking the Metro to La Defense, but just in case...
A normal central Paris T+ Metro ticket will only take you to La Defense by the Metro, and is not valid on RER Line A to La Defense, as T+ tickets can only be used on the RER within the 1-20 arrondisements. This is a notorious quirk of Paris public transport which frequently leads to tourists getting penalty fares.
Thanks so much for the help especially about the specific ticket required! Great forum!
