I have the opportunity to go on an all day tour through Provence and they will stop for 1 hour for the Sunday market which is quite convenient. Would it be better if I went to this town on a Sunday from Avignon independently?

Love this market! I would want more time there myself. One hour is very short for this extensive and fun market!

One hour seems very short to me as well, and I was there on Wednesday when the market is smaller, plus it was raining.

One hour is very very rushed. It deserves longer (half a day), and the train from Avignon is super easy.

The market is large, fun and interesting, and an hour is hardly worth the effort if you ask me. If you're driving, plan to spend a good bit of that hour just finding parking. We drove, but if I did it again, I'd check into train/bus service. If you have the time time, I'd say do the day trip from Avignon.

I took the train from Avignon to L’Isla sur la Sorgue a couple of years ago for the Sunday market. It is a very short walk from the train station. I definitely spent more than an hour at the market. I was mostly interested in the food stalls. It is a huge market.
