My wife and I were supposed to fly to Paris CDG on April 3 but my wife had emergency surgery on Feb 3 and will be recovering for an extended period of time.We called Air France and they worked with us for one hour and got us a full refund on our non refundable tickets and the refund posted yesterday to our Visa account.I have always used Air France when traveling to CDG and now more than ever will use Delta/Air France to travel domestically and internationally.That was very considerate on their part.

You probably bought your tickets directly with Air France. A few years back, I had to cancel my trip with them due to my mother's emergency surgery. It took a year of much documentation (letter from Doctor, hospital reports) and many emails before they finally refunded my trip. I bought the ticket through Orbitz, so it was really hard to get the refund. I also had no trip insurance.
