King's Apartment Guided Tour at Versailles with a museum pass

I'm sorry if this is already posted, but I couldn't find it. I have a friend who is leaving for France and wants to go to Versailles and has already purchased a museum pass. This should get them into Versailles, correct, without having to purchase a passport ticket? But do they still need a timed entry? Then, do they purchase the King's apartment tour ticket? Any clarity would be greatly appreciated. I did this 2 years ago, but I can't exactly remember and I didn't have the museum pass.
Thank you

rmienfeld,
Timed entry is required, as far as I know, whether with a museum pass or not. I don't know about the King's Apt. tickets. They should go to the official website for Versailles.

With the museum pass you need to book a free entry. While it will be 'timed' , the timing is sort of irrelevant as you will enter with the tour group from the KAT. You meet in a reception area and when your group is ready to be taken in, you will show your entry ticket at that entry/security point -- it will just be the people in your group.

Thank you both. I read the palace website and told them they just need to purchase the guided tour tickets separately. They have already booked the timed entry with their museum pass. Hopefully it works out for them. They aren't as adept at the details as I am usually.
Thanks again.
