My family will be in Marseille for one day on a cruise and are very interested in kayaking to the Calanques. Our ship does not offer an excursion for this and we are willing to figure it out on our own. Anyone have any tips or contacts for kayak rentals/half day trips?
I always check trip advisor for things to do in the areas we go on cruises.
The calanques are close to Cassis--not to Marseilles. You need to get from the cruise port in Marseilles to the waterfront in Cassis, where you can rent kayaks or get on a boat tour. It can be a hassle since the Cassis train station is far from the waterfront, and you'll need to take a taxi unless you time the bus just right (it doesn't run very often). It can be done, but it will take a lot of advance planning. I'd buy Rick's cruise ports book for the logisitcs, or check the cruise critic website.
