We have a couple of days in Biarritz before starting our RS Basque Country tour in late Sept and would like to arrange a guided kayaking trip. It looks like there is an all day kayak trip that Takamaka Sports does out of Hendaye to the caves. Has anyone done this or something similar or have other recommendations? We are in our 60’s and are comfortable with flat water kayaking.
I have not done it in Hendaye, but this will not be 'flat water' kayaking. You'll be in the open ocean. Of course they can only go when the ocean is calm, and Hendaye bay is relatively calm, but still, it's not a lake or a river!
Do you have suggestions elsewhere in the area? We have one day to kayak and would love to do something nice, thx
I have never kayaked in the area. The ocean is often rough - this is a region with world-famous surf breaks.
But you can give it a go, after all, a guided trip offers a significant layer of safety!
I saw your other thread in Spain forum. You ask about biking there. Biking the Corniche Basque road between St Jean de Luz/Ciboure and Hendaye would be very pleasant. There are some hills, moderate traffic too, but nothing major - and it is the only coastal road in the area. On the Spanish side, there's the Jazkibel road (unsure of spelling), but that's steep and challenging.
Thank you! There doesn’t seem to be much info online (at least not in English) so I really appreciate your suggestions!
