June Paris gardens

Are there any flower Gardens in June I should not miss? I plan to go to Luxembourg gardens, and Versailles, but didn't know if there might be some hidden places where the flowers would be especially a don't miss in June. And if by foot or bike would be best

Cheers!

The gardens at the Rodin museum should be especially nice in June. I love them. You don't have to go to the museum, they have a ticket for just the garden for €1 (at least it was that in 2012). In addition to the flowers and ponds you also get the outdoor sculptures, including "The Thinker".

EDIT: just thought of a couple more, Parc Monceau has lovely gardens and also the Jardin des Plantes (botanical gardens).

The garden on the river side of Notre Dame. Square Jean XXIII. Have not seen spring, but summer
and fall are wonderful.

A favorite garden of ours is the collection of different gardens at the Albert Kahn Musee near stop St. Cloud Bologne on the #10 metro. there are two types of Japanese gardens, an English ramble, a French formal espaliered garden etc etc. You can see snapshots in my travel journal here:

And of course, Giverny is spectcular and worth a day trip.

the Promenade Plantee is also a fun 'garden'; it starts just behind the Opera House at Bastille and runs to the Parc Vincennes. There are also snapshots in the travel journal in the Paris category for that.

I agree with the Rodin suggestion. I was in Paris last June and the roses were in full bloom and spectacular. If you are interested in a trip out of town, take a bus to Giverny and tour Monet's home and gardens. You will get both the flower garden and pond with water lilies, both were memorable.

If you have an i-phone, download the RS Audio Europe app and listen to the "Hidden Gardens of Paris" interview. She has a lot of great ideas, including the intimate garden of Hotel Dieu, a small garden hidden right across the street from Notre Dame. Enjoy!
