My husband and I are traveling from Italy to Avignon June 21st. We will be in Avignon until Saturday the 25th. Our plans include: a visit to Arles market, a food tour of Avignon, and we'd like to do a private van tour of the surrounding towns and sites on Friday, the 24th. As private tours are expensive, we would like to split the expense with another couple, if possible. If anyone is interested, we can discuss possible destinations and length of tour. You can respond to this post with a private message.
In 2014 we had a great experience with Provence Panorama in Avignon. We took the "Monuments, Wine and Chocolate" (or something like that) tour with 6 other people and the "Luberon and Lavender" tour with one other couple. These tours were much cheaper than private tours and we enjoyed the benefits of a small group.
The positive reviews on TripAdvisor are consistent with our experience. You can PM me if you have any questions. Those two days with Provence Panorama were among the highlights of our two week trip to France and Italy.
A stroll through Avignon's central market should whet your appetite. Daily from 6 a.m. with stalls beginning to close down around 1 p.m. http://www.avignon-leshalles.com/
The always-useful Avignon tourism authority has information on food and lots of other attractions in and around the city: http://www.avignon-tourisme.com/halles-et-marches/~/offres-11-2.htmlhttp://www.avignon-tourisme.com/halles-et-marches/~/offres-11-2.html
