President Emmanuel Macron on CBS said in mid-April that he wanted to gradually lift travel restrictions for Americans who had received two doses of the vaccine.

Discussions are still ongoing according to Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Secretary of State in charge of tourism, who spoke at the end of the tourism sector committee organized this Friday, May 28, 2021: “We are currently working on opening up to the Americans. This work is being done with the United States Ambassador to France. We have seen the very concrete translation of this announcement with a 42% increase in searches for the destination France on Google.

The Atout France office also confirmed that many reservations have been made. We are putting ourselves in a position to welcome international customers on June 9, 2021. ”

According to the figures announced, visitors across the Atlantic do not want to waste time finding France: 30% of bookings made by May 17 by Americans are for a trip in June and 27% for the month of July.

Based on an announcement some time ago that France would open to American tourists June 9, I have already made most of my hotel reservations and my air travel. The hotels have sent welcoming notes. I’m anxious to go and they are anxious to have tourism return.

Thank you for keeping us posted, Bets. This is turning out to be quite the cliffhanger, especially with the news about a July 1st opening date for residents of the EU, which makes me wonder how they will manage to allow Americans in so much earlier on June 9th. I'm hoping that our 50% vaccination rate will be our ticket to France. We have an arrival date of July 22 so fingers crossed for all.

I got this news article from someone in a group of Americans who are retired in France. Many of these Americans who live in France are eagerly watching so they can fly to the States to see family, take care of business, buy ranch dressing and Mexican food.... They are just as eager to fly out and be allowed to return as you are to go visit !

Thank you yet again, Bets! I watch France 24 at home and read the New York Times regularly. But, as I've recently told my husband (and anyone else who will listen) if I need accurate information as to what's going on in France I go to Rick's website and look for info from Bets! So, again, many, many thanks.
