I am planning a 3 day trip to Paris (from London and then onwards to Switzerland from Paris). My Paris days would be July 3rd or 4th and departing 7th morning. My Main question is will all the touristy sights be shut down/ limited access around that time for the Olympics starting end of July? I understand there will likely be more crowds, wait times etc. due to the games, but will access to Eiffel tower, louvre etc. be blocked off? will the Siena river cruise be suspended?
Personally? I would stay away from Paris this summer. The olympics don't start until later, yet everyone will be trying to squeeze it in before the olympics start. Plus all the athletes arriving, staff, and supportive families. The Parisiennes are dreading this coming summer. Everything is already more expensive than normal and I have no doubts that during your planned time, it could be even worse. Construction is everywhere (we're here now and the only time it's been issue is with metro and buses). So, if you still want to come to Paris during your stated time and enjoy it as much as you can. Consider going elsewhere, say Strasbourg & Colmar instead.
