Itinerary help in Provence and French Alps

Hi,
Would love some feedback on our tentative itinerary for our visit to these areas in mid-June. We will be renting a car to tour this area in 6 days. My husband and I are most interested in seeing/staying in smaller picturesque villages. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Thursday, June 16: travel from Villefranche-Sur-Mer

Fri., June 17. Travel from Les

That's a lot of ground to cover. I will say the following:

  1. Chamonix was definitely worth 2 days for me.
  2. If you are in the neighborhood (Gordes) don't miss Joucas, which is delightful
  3. Suzette is very lovely

One night stays are absolutely exhausting to me and I avoid them at all costs. With the number of places you want to see each day you won't see anything of the towns you plan to spend the night in. I think you are underestimating your distances as well. By the time you check out of your hotel in the morning you have about 1/2 day drive between some of these places. That leaves you part of an afternoon (you have to find parking and then check in to your new hotel) and an evening to see the new place. Then you have to do it all over again the next day in order to make it to the next town. For every day of this 6 day itinerary! Not much fun in my book.
