Itinerary Help December

Considering RS Paris 7 days in mid- December...... I am planning on arriving 5-6 days prior to start of tour and departing 3-4 days after it ends.

I would like to visit some sites prior to start of trip knowing this will be late fall/winter.

Right now I am thinking about hadinding to Normandy for 3-4 days, departing from CDG to either Bayeux or Caen. Focus would be Bayeux Tapestry and D-Day Museum/Beaches.

I would also like to go to Mont St. Michel and overnight but I can’t decide if I should plan on a long day there and then start heading back to Paris.

How feasible would this be in mid December and if it is - what advice might anyone have as to traveling there and back and whether to base in Caen or Bayeux? I will not be renting a car and I will be traveling solo.

Thank you all for your wisdom

It is very feasible. I did something similar in late December January 2015 and it was perfectly deserted not many tourists and temperatures in the 50's. But I went to St Malo from Paris Gare Montparnasse on the TGV train one night first then took the train to Pontorson where I caught the bus (timed for each train arrival) to Mt St Michel. From there I took the train to Bayeux for two nights touring the D-Day beaches as a day trip using the public bus to get there with a few other tourists. (Since the bus has limited service off season we decided to meet at the American Cemetery entrance and split the cost of a taxi back to Bayeux. And actually it was the nice people at the American Cemetary Museum that called the taxi for us). Then I took the train from Bayeux back to Paris.
