Itinerary Feedback Request for Paris - Young Couple`

Hello everyone! I am travelling to Paris this week with my boyfriend. For context, we live in NYC and are both 23. I think it is fair to say that we have a lot of energy and are used to walking around a lot / generally doing a lot in our free time. He has never been to Paris, and I have been twice but only for two nights each time. That being said, if anyone would be so kind as to review our itinerary for our upcoming trip to Paris beginning on Friday (11/22) through Tuesday (11/26) to provide any last-minute advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

Day 1 - Friday:
Land at 10:50am and check into Airbnb on Ile St Louis around 1:00pm
Walk to lunch in Saint-Germain-des-Pres and leisurely walk around to Jardin du Luxembourg, Pantheon, etc.
Take train to PSG Game that starts at 9pm

Day 2 - Saturday:
Sainte Chappelle at 9am, explore Ile de la Cite
Shopping in Le Marais
Walk over to Jardin des Tuileries
More shopping along Champs Elysées
Bike to l'Arc de Triomphe to go to the top
Seine River Cruise

Day 3 - Sunday:
10am Organ concert at Saint-Sulpice
12pm train to Versailles
Spend day biking around gardens / exploring palace / picnic
Dinner in Versailles

Been to Paris several times. Walking is a good way to discover. Don't sleep on using the metro. Good way to see how Parisians move about and connect with them.

Might help us weigh in on plans if we know what arrondissement you are staying in.

Did you check to make sure the museums are open the days you’ve planned? Not sure what your interests are but I recommend trying to find time for Rodin Museum. Also wondering if you are considering a way to cram in Eiffel one of the nights. That depends on interest, budget, and if you plan to visit again any time soon.

Day 1

Great to see you going to a PSG game! Lots of fun and great way to experience French culture. Jardin Luxembourg is a great way to kick off the jet lag too. Will be a long day with the jet lag and late night.

Day 2

Ok

Day 3

Ok. The garden will be fun to explore. Been to the Palace a few times and it was much better the first time. Not as impressive after that but I might be Palace’d out, having been to palaces in many countries.

Day 4

Orangerie is nice but it only occupies about an hour or so for most. Rodin? Pont Alexandre III walk along Seine and picnic. Not sure where the food tour is or goes?

Day 5

Walking from Orsay to Montmartre might be a lot. It’s about an hour walk and uphill after you’ve just walked around in Orsay for a few hours and been walking already for almost a week.

Wow, you really are 23 and have a lot of energy in you plan and are able to go to a 9 PM game on the day you arrive. I think your itinerary sounds very doable. I wonder though if you will really need to bike to the Arc d' Triomphe if you are preceding it by shopping along the Champs Elysees. Walking down the Champs Elysees to shop should take you just about to the Arc d' Triomphe. By the way, I walked from Le Marais to Montmartre and it was not a great walk mainly because I followed the absolutely charmless route that Google Maps provided so if you are planning to use Google maps for directions, please keep in mind that it does not account for charm when giving directions.
Edit: Day 3 might be a little tough. How long is the concert at Saint Sulpice? You will not be spending the day at the palace -- it will be about four hours. Have you gotten your timed entry tickets? I see that you are taking the train to Versailles. Have you checked the schedule for trains back to Paris or will you take a taxi/uber back?

I would buy tickets for St Chapelle and L'Orangerie now. St Chapelle lines are confusing and long even with advance timed tickets, so I wouldn't want to show up without them.

I assume you will want to stroll past Notre Dame. There is a virtual reality program called Eternal Notre Dame that everyone seems to enjoy. We ran out of time to experience it in April.

Have a wonderful time!

Has your Airbnb host said they would be available for a 1:00 check in? Frequently it's later in the afternoon.

As mentioned, the Champs Elysees is the street one takes to go from the Tuilleries to the Arc de Triomphe. Just do your shopping en route.

I would suggest you save the steps and just take the Metro and Funicular up to the top of Montmartre, and then walk down.

Wow! If you can find a way to bottle and sell that energy, you'll make a fortune!

As a twenty something, I would definitely stay in the Oberkampf.

The best restaurants and nightlife in Paris as well as fantastic cafes and coffee shops. Great shopping also.

Awesome! Enjoy your trip. And I'd simply offer "pace yourself" and be willing to cut and add as the mood moves you.

Even in my 20s, the flights to Europe took a little effort to recover from, so the first day was always affected by some jet lag. After that, it was go, go, go (a Rick Steve's "norm") where we tried to pack as much travel and experiences into a single vacation.

As ever, Paris has much more than a few days can cover, so you'll be in great shape to return many times over the years and add to the things you see and do.

Looks like an awesome trip. Don't forget to stop and smell the roses and bask in the beauty. Sometimes Americans get so caught up in their itinerary that they forget to have fun.

Overly energetic? Pfui! I'm over 70, and I'd love to tag along with the two of you!

Looks like a great itinerary. Have a wonderful time.

It looks like a great time, hope the match last night was fun.

Unfortunately, Monday does not look like it is going to lend itself to picnicking along the Seine. Right now the prediction is for 96% chance of rain, and winds between 10 and 20 mph. (The temperature is actually supposed to be pretty mild, not like today — but the other conditions will preclude fun picnicking.) luckily tomorrow looks decent for biking at Versailles (although again perhaps a bit windy ).

Maybe a lunch at Breizh Cafe instead of the picnic ?

Also, as others have said, there won’t be any biking up to the Arc de Triomphe, because the Champs-Elysees is right there. For shopping though I find the Champs-Élysées charmless - I would go over to Le Bon Marché on the left bank and then poke around in the back streets around there.

I also think that walking to Montmartre after Orsay museum might be a bit too much. If you want to get there and yet see some sights along the way, consider taking a bus. The bus service in Paris is very good. As to day 3 (Versailles), it probably will be very crowded inside the chateau. You might consider skipping that, and just walking (or biking) around the grounds, which are lovely. Peter
