itinerary advice for Toulouse Albi, Carcassonne and Collioure

I need help with the order of these stops on our last leg of my adult son's and my trip this summer coming up. We are flying into Toulouse Tuesday July 9, around 9:30 pm. The next day we would like to go to Albi, and the day after that head down to Collioure for 3 nights. I am planning on taking the train up to Carcassonne on the 14th, and we are booking a tour to the Cathar castles all day, and then flying out of Carcassonne on Tuesday to London on the 16th. The other option would be to go to Carcassonne AFTER Albi, ( do the castle tour) then down to Coilloure, and fly out of Perpigan to London. One of my other questions regarding this would be, should we stay overnight I Albi or just do a day trip on our own,and stay another night in Toulouse and take train from there instead ? The train from Albi has to transfer in Toulouse anyway although I think staying in Albi would be special.
We will not be renting a car.
Pros and cons of flying out of Carcassonne vs. Perpignan, airport-wise ?

Thoughts or suggestions ?
Thank you !

All your itineraries are feasible. Both Albi and Toulouse have considerable charm, so you cannot go wrong there. Seems as though the fly-out-of-Perpignan scenario would entail slightly less doubling back, if that matters.

Toulouse is a fine town to de jetlag, but it sounds as though you may be flying in from another part of Europe, so that consideration does not apply.

Thank you for your reply. We are coming into France from 2 weeks in Croatia. Great to hear you liked Toulouse.

It can be extremely hot in Toulouse and Albi; be prepared. I really liked both, but I think I'd avoid changing hotels (and having to drag suitcases around in what might be miserable heat). Toulouse is a lot livelier than Albi and will probably be a better place to stay.

Thank you for this-I was coming to that same conclusion-to not move up to Albi, but wasn't aware of the heat factor--
the hottest I have ever been traveling was in Cordorba, Spain--not really that away--
Thanks again...
