Is uzes easier to get to from avignon or nimes using public transportation?

Rick Steves states in his Provence book that Uzes is much easier to get from Nimes than from Avignon. Can anyone second that? I've looked at bus timetables and it appears that from Avignon it takes about 60 minutes, while Rick says that from Nimes it is only 40 minutes.

This goes back to the question whether Avignon or Nimes is a better home base (Avignon - Nimes - Uzes - Arles), I know, with the condition that we're talking about public transportation, not a car.

I think I've thrown myself into the Avignon camp, so my airbnb reservations reflect that, and I have less than 48 hours to cancel without penalty.

I'm also wondering whether one week in Avignon will be enough to see Avignon and go to Nimes and Arles as day trips, or whether it will be too rushed. I like spending enough time in one place so not to feel rushed.

There’s not really that much to see in Avignon. The papal palace is mostly empty. Once you have taken a gander at the half ruined bridge, you’ve seen most of what there is to see. The three other towns are much more worthwhile. I’d skip Avignon altogether and concentrate on them.

Some people, like the poster above, don't care too much for Avignon, but I think that while it does not have as many sights as, say, Arles, the bustling old town is a very pleasant place to spend a few days (outside of the theater festival). And it's a good hub.
To answer your question : yes, plenty of time, the Avignon sights take less than a day to sample, you'll even have time to cross the river to Villeneuve lez Avignon (where there are good views and interesting places to visit), and still have a very leisurely week.

My opinion of Avignon is the same as Rosalyn's. However, it does make a good hub for public transportation.
