Have 5 days between workshops in Toulouse area, meeting back at the airport. My husband would dearly love to see Normandy, but it is very far away! I don't think we could fly? And I'm not sure about renting a car to drive either. I've read all of the wonderful posts about the things in Normandy and see why he wants to go. If anyone out there can give us some guidance about getting there, I think we could figure out the rest.
Would it be better to save it for another trip and see something closer? HELP! and thanking you in advance.

No, it's not a bad idea. If the plane is too expensive for a one-way ticket, the train would be a long ride, but it would get you there. Check sncf.com. If you go via Paris, you would need to change train stations, but most of the trains are tgv.
