All tools are useful and no one has too much travel information. This one, it appears, is also a revenue generator.

Can you connect to the internet via your phone? Or do you also travel with a tablet that connects to the internet? If so, you can buy tickets from the appropriate websites. If not, you will have some significant challenges and will probably waste time having to go to museums, train stations, etc., ahead of time to buy tickets for later in the day or future days. It's not a way I'd want to travel.

While you may get some information, she is basically "selling".

If you have access to the Internet you can make reservations and purchase tickets without a smartphone. You will need to be able to print the tickets.

That said, traveling is so much easier with a smartphone. Last spring in London I needed the phone to scan the code to place my restaurant order. In Paris a museum no longer offered paper maps. I had to download their app. Using public transportation in various cities, the many useful features of the Citymapper app has become invaluable to me.

Unlocked smartphones can be purchased for under $100. No need to spend hundreds on the latest and greatest iPhone or Samsung.

I agree with Jean on the need for a Smartphone. I ran into the need to scan a QR code for a menu in Bordeaux in 2021, so right after Covid. They were not handing out paper menus so you had to scan the code. I didn't have data and was not up to date on my phone skills so I just picked something off the chalkboard.

I've also run into the need to download an app or scan a QR code in Museums. In the Louvre's David exhibition last Fall you scanned a code when you entered the exhibition and got the audio guide.

As far as train tickets, as mentioned you can go to the train station and buy a ticket but might face a fairly long line or you can buy from a machine in the station. For a longer distance train you'd want to buy before you leave home for better pricing.

I stopped reading your link when she encouraged buying a Paris Museum Pass which is not really a good strategy any more except in isolated instances. It's much easier to buy a timed entry from the specific museums you want to visit.
