Is there transportation on Mont St Michel to the Abbey?

I’m traveling with my parents and I don’t know if they will be able to walk to the abbey. Is there a service available to transport them to the top?

grant,
Hubby and I (now 81 and 82) managed to get to the abbey 7 years ago but just took it slowly. We went up the back route to avoid the large number of people. It is steeper, but we did it. And that was before I had my knees replaced, and before hubby had his second knee replaced. If getting short of breath is a problem for your folks I would maybe take the main street up as there are more places to sit if need be. (walls, cafes, etc.)
I have never seen anyone using the sedan chairs in my several visits. If that option still exists I bet it isn't cheap! If the climb to the abbey is too much, just know that looking at the mont from across the causeway or from up close is a real treat. It is formidable, and its mood seems to change with the light. They will enjoy just seeing this sight even from afar!
