This has been my favorite transit when arriving at CDG. A few years ago I read/heard that the Air France CDG-Paris bus was defunct. But a search tonight turns up what seems to be a reliable hit with schedules, prices, etc. What's the true low-down on this? Thanks for your information.
The bus service no longer exists. See https://www.parisaeroport.fr/en/passengers/services/le-bus-direct. Where did you find this "reliable hit?" There is a lot of misinformation, including from sites that do not update aged information, on the internet about Paris.
Here is the link, 5th hit on a search:
CDG Air France bus
So given this, are the current choices Roissybus, RER, and cab? Uber?

You have listed the main options. There is also local bus route that goes to Porte de la Chapelle and from there you could take metro line 12 into central Paris. There also one that goes to Place de la Nation. Neither bus is a great idea for the typical visitor for a number of reasons, including a complete lack of space for luggage.

Yep. Taxi is probably your best choice as it is a fixed price
Really irritating when sites don't clean up their information; this bus has been gone for a fair bit. I wandered around the deep recesses of the 13th looking for a particular store -- one of a chain -- and the chain website still listed it with hours and all. Turned out it had been permanently closed for a year.
It's been 5 or 6 years or more since the AF buses operated. Operation continued by another company until Covid and then everything shut down permanently.
From CDG to Paris, I recommend either option:
Taxi from the official taxi queue: 56€/65€ to the Right/Left Bank respectively. Only taxis have access to HOV/bus lanes making them faster than other (non train) options.
RER B to any RER/métro station - 11.80€, 13€ starting January.
The 350/351 buses are very slow and have no room for luggage.
Lee,
I believe it worthwhile to budget for a taxi from the airport. Quicker, no schlepping of luggage, and arrival at lodging entrance. Just plan on that expense as a gift to yourself to offset a (probably) poor sleep on an overnight flight.
I might also add that, if you land jetlagged and bedraggled, as most tourists do, you'll be more succeptible to pickpockets on the Métro than you otherwise might. I build the cost of a taxi into my travel budget. In the grand scheme of things, it's a tiny part of the budget for peace of mind.
And btw, no tipping.
Depending on where your hotel is located, the Roissy bus can be very convenient. Tap and go these days with a credit card.

Another vote for the RoissyBus. I usually stay my first night near the Opera en route to Normandy from Gare St.-Lazare, so it works great for me. It is much cheaper than taxi, leaves right outside of arrivals at CDG, and goes overground instead of tunneling underground and missing all the city sights on your way in. I find it a good way to start to be mentally acclimated.

Lee -- you do realize this is a link to the Roissybus service between CDG and Opéra, right? It "seems to be a reliable hit with schedules, prices, etc." because in fact the Roissybus service is still running (as of today, Dec 2024)!
The service between CDG/Etoile that you are thinking of is Le Bus Direct, which I would point out the airport website does in fact correctly indicate is no longer available.
Good catch, Andrew.
