Is the Paris Passlib' worth getting?

My family of four...2 adults, 14 yr old, and 16 yr old will be in Paris June 29 - July 5. Has anyone used the Paris Passlib'? Is it worth the money? I have read the website, lots of information such as 'this but not that, or that but not this', etc. This will be our first time visiting Paris, and we are not much for guided tours.

Just wondering if anyone can give a shorter explanation of it and whether it would be worth doing. Or just buying individual tickets everywhere. I am thinking we would not do the bus tour as I have read several threads who say the traffic is so bad that they are very slow. The Eiffel Tower add on is nice, but the kids would like to go to the top, which the Passlib' makes it sound like we would have to purchase other tickets for that. And even though it sounds like Versailles is one of the places you can get into, that would require a more expensive Passlib' just for transportation. Too much information! ;)

Thank you for the help / suggestions!

We bought the 5-day Passlib's for our upcoming trip, and I think it was our best option, price-wise, for what we want to see. You could get it and not opt for the Eiffel tower option, then book the top of the tower on the actual Eiffel tower website, though when I tried that, the tickets had sold out literally the hour they went on sale, two months ahead of time, and I was REALLY paying attention (frown), so we got the option to do the 2nd floor with the Passlib instead.

I like that the Passlib includes the on-off bus tour, and an hour Seine river cruise as well, plus all the transportation in zones 1-3, and the museum pass.

I think we'll need to buy a couple of carnets of regular metro tickets to make it all work, but that was our best option after weighing ALL the options. Good luck!

GetMovin',

  • I'd recommend doing the math before you spend that kind of money.

  • Do consider getting the Navigo Découverte weekly pass.
The ND covers zones 1 to 5 including CDG airport, Versailles and
    Disneyland.

  • If you plan on visiting museums and other monuments (including Versailles) do check out the
Paris Museum Pass, which is a great investment in my opinion.

  • Keep in mind that most museums and monuments are free for children
under age 18. Do check each museum and monument's website (found on the Paris Museum Pass website linked above) for information as some require you to get the free ticket for your children. You'll need ID for them to prove their age.

  • Do book your Eiffel Tower Tickets NOW before they sell out!

Enjoy your trip!

I have never seen any itinerary that made economic sense to purchase the Paris Pass, Paris Passlib or any of its derivatives. Consider the Museum Pass and possibly a weekly Navigo fare.

Buying any ticket in advance gives you skip the line privileges.

If you want to visit the Eiffel Tower, purchase tickets well in advance from the official ET website.

These passes are not passes, they are bundles of products you can buy for less if you want them once you get there. Get a Museum Pass if you plan to do a lot of included museums and monuments and either a Navigo decouverte transport pass (they run Mon-Sun) or carnet 10s of ordinary bus/metro tickets for transport around Paris -- 10 for 14.90. If you decide you want a HOHO bus or a Seine Cruise just buy it when you want it. There is no advantage to paying a lot extra for a bunch of stuff you may not have time to use. They offer no special skip the line benefits or whatever that just buying a ticket or museum pass doesn't afford (usually that means you get a separate security line)
