We live in South Florida & my husband likes going to aquariums and was wondering if this would be worth it?
Which one?
Full disclosure...I have not been to any of them...but I heard from a friend that the Porte Doree one was nice, but small, tucked into the basement of the larger Science Museum...if you are going to be in the 12th arr, and have I would say at least 7 days in Paris...go for it..less than that amount of time IMHO is not worth going to an aquarium....I have been to Paris about 22 times since 1997...and for me, there is so much more to see.
The ones we have in the US are "most likely" more impressive than the ones in Paris...but curious minds want to know! :) If it makes your husband happy....go for it!
If you do go please put in a report here and kindly make sure that you name the actual aquarium as there are several in Paris.
Maybe someone how has been there will add their 2 cents in....
havent been either. but agree with first poster. If there is anything else to do.. do that..
Just a correction - the rest of the building of the Porte Doree aquarium doesn't house a science museum, but a museum of the history of immigration and ethnic minorities in France.
Bottom line is you will never be at a loss for things to see in Paris, even if you have already been multiple times. But if going to an aquarium is something your husband really likes a lot, then by all means let him check it out.
Even if it's not your cup of tea, there's no law that says you both need to be attached at the hip 24/7 while in Paris. That might be your opportunity to go off for a few hours on your own and do something you enjoy that he might find completely boring (e.g., shoe, purse or cosmetics shopping - no man wants to tag along on that outing). Or just take that time to go sit in a nice park or have a glass of wine at some sidewalk table or terrace and people watch. He can join you when he's done.
If you do decide you want to go with him, let your husband take a look at the comments section on TripAdvisor or Yelp and see what other people who have gone have to say about it and he can make a decision as to whether he wants to give it a try.
The short answer, and this is from a person who has been, is no, unless your husband wants to see an aquarium in every place he visits. I went to the one in Palais de la Porte Doree.
