I bought an Orange Holiday France eSIM and installed it, but I haven't yet activated it since my trip starts this Sept. In the attached PDF a eSIM registration requirement per French law is mentioned after 30 days of use. The most convenient option, registration through the Orange app with a smartphone, seems to be missing. In addition, the attached PDF mentions that registration can take 10 days or more (due to French government review??).
So my question is:
Is SIM Registration necessary for a 3.5 week trip in France?

First, you cannot upload documents to this forum, so I cannot see the "attached PDF" you are referring to. Second, yes, there is a law in France that requires registration of eSIMs within the first 30 days of use. Orange gives instructions for registering your eSIM on their website - see https://support.travel.orange.com/hc/en-us/articles/16287252380445-How-can-I-register-my-SIM-or-eSIM I would suggest reviewing that and see what applies to your esim.
If you choose to disobey the law and not register it, it will be deactivated after 30 days. Since you are there for less time, that may not matter to you. I don't know whether that would affect future purchases of an Orange eSIM.
For an American planning to use the eSim and delete after the 30 days, I wouldn't bother to register.
From my Orange packet from a year or two ago:
Want to use your eSIM for more than 30 days? To keep your line active after 30 days, please register using this form. Your eSIM will be suspended after 30 days if you don't.
Sorry, I did not mean to imply that I attached the Welcome Packet PDF, as was mentioned, this is not allowed in RS forum, so I made an assumption that this was common knowledge.
Still not clear on what French law actually requires in my case, if it is possible I am OK with registering, but is it really required??

I don't mean to dispute with you, Mardee, but I've been using a French eSIM from Free for 6 weeks without registering it. I assume Free did that for me, but I can't prove that.
jphbucks: If you bought your sim in a Free store, yes, it was probably registered for you. The OP bought it by mail order. We bought ours in a Free store and have been using them continuously for three years, so yes, I assume it was done in the boutique by the clerk when we gave our address, French ID cards, etc.
Since the OP wont' be using it over 30 days, it doesn't appear to be anything to worry about.
Thank you, Elizabeth. Your posts are always helpful!
isn't 3.5 weeks less than 30 days? Even 4 weeks would be.
Yes, you have to register it. It is the law... If you don't it will die. You will be gone by then, so no issue for you...
I’ve used Orange Holiday several times, and only bothered to register on one trip. The one month time clock starts with activation, so you should be fine. However, if you are concerned, and find yourself near an Orange boutique, stop in and ask. They can also help you with registration on the spot.
