Is it Safe to walk aorung Gare De Lyon/Lendru Rollins in Paris in Night ??

Hii Everyone,

I along with my wife and children will be visiting Paris in December'18 around Christmas. I have booked Hotel near Gare De Lyon Station (800 mtrs from Station), near Lendru Rollins 12 emme. I have certain questions on which I would request everyone to share their views and Guide.

1) Is it safe to roam around Gare De Lyon/Lendru Rollins in night .. Walk in markets in night?
2) We will be visiting Disneyland by Metro/RER. Will it be safe in night to travel back from Disneyland to our Hotel via Metro/RER (as i have heard that Metro is not safe at night for tourists). We will be walking from Gare de Lyon Station to our Hotel in night.
3) We are planning to celebrate Christmas at Eiffel Tower in night and want to leave from Eiffel Tower to our Hotel around 11-12 pm (midnight). Will it be safe to travel by Metro at that time or shall we take a taxi ? Also whether local taxi will be preferable or Uber ?
Please suggest as we are concerned about security and at the same time we want to enjoy the Christmas night time also in Paris.
Thanks

I have traveled in Paris many times over the last 10 years and have used the metro system each time and have never had a problem with people bothering me or criminal activity. I actually feel safer walking in Paris at night than i do in most cities in the USA! If your truly concerned, than taking a taxi back after the evening at the Eiffel tower would be worth the peace of mind.

I have stayed in that area and I can't imagine any problem with personal safety there or elsewhere in central Paris. The Metro and RER are also safe. Pickpockets aren't dangerous but you should take precautions on Metro, RER, and in crowded areas like the Eiffel Tower. This website has good advice about pickpockets and tourist scams under "Travel Tips." But you shouldn't be concerned about your family's personal safety. Do pay attention to traffic when crossing streets though!

Paris is safe until well into the early morning hours. We walk at night and use the metro at night till midnight or so and have never felt nervous about it. Safety is just not an issue in Paris.

We stayed in that neighborhood in 2014 and felt absolutely safe at night. I would probably take a cab back to the hotel from the Eiffel Tower due to the lateness of the hour you mention.

Have a great trip!

I stayed right there in the Ibis at Ledru-Rollin and rue de Lyon in August. It’s safe. However, I’d take a taxi home from dinner at the Eiffel Tower no matter what. I wouldn’t want to cap a magical Christmas evening dining at the Eiffel Tower by waiting a long time at that hour, underground, for a noisy old dirty metro when my family and I could be whisked back above ground, continuing the lovely evening.

It's perfectly safe in that neighborhood at all hours and it's safe to ride the metro at night on your way back from Disneyland Paris too.

The central market in that area is at Place d'Aligre, but the outdoor stalls shut down in early afternoon. The indoor pavillion is enduring lengthy renovations after a fire and the status of its shops is not clear. A fair walk away, at Bastille, the famous outdoor market is open Thursday and Sunday mornings along Blvd. Richard Lenoir. To find out holiday hours you can retreat to Google.

This site has nice photos from Bastille: http://parisadele.com/portfolio/bastille-markets/

A Paris food expert says this about Aligre: https://www.davidlebovitz.com/marche-daligre-aligre-outdoor-market-paris/

As to safety, the standard rule of thumb at night, anywhere, is to stay where there are other people and light. This is both a residential and a drinking/dining area so you can expect others will be around up to midnight.

In general, Paris is safe. As always use some caution; if a place looks unsafe, avoid it. I visited the gardens built on top of the old rail line in that area. I'm not sure I'd want to visit at night. It's surprisingly narrow and you can find yourself far from the nearest exit.

We stayed in that neighborhood for a month this summer and it was perfectly safe. We walked around at night and it was by no means deserted...plenty of people out and about.
I rode the metro by myself many times well after 11 PM / midnight and never had an issue. The metro is actually quite busy late at night when people are heading home from their evenings out.
