Is it a good idea to book the Eifell Tower?

Hi,
We are coming to France for the first time. We are from Canada. We are going to visit the Eiffel Tower at August 13, 2019 any time after 8 pm.

Q1: Should we book the ticket in advance? Are we too late to book such a ticket? We want to see the top of the tower.

Q2: Can I buy the ticket when we reach the tower? How long will I typically wait? Which website do you recommend that I can buy cheap tickets for the tower? Do you recommend that I order online or go the tower and purchase from there? Which type of ticket? I heard there are different prices for each level of the tower. What is your recommendation on that tower? Which level I should consider?

Q3: Do you feel it is necessary to go to the inside of the tower? Is it a waste of money?

Q4: When is the best time of the day to go Eifell Tower? Day, afternoon, night, etc. What time range do you recommend?

I like your opinion on this. Thank you for your time and consideration in reading this post.

You won't get into the Eiffel Tower without ordering a ticket ahead of time online.

Maybe I’m in the minority, but after several trips to Paris, I’ve never been up the Eiffel Tower, dealing with the lines of people or the price. I’ve climbed to other high points in many other places, but not that one ... yet.

For a free, grand view over Paris from a different high vantage point, with the tower in full view, take the Metro to the Trocadero stop, go up to the Place du Trocadero which overlooks the vast Jardins du Trocadero gardens and fountains, and behold Paris, sprawled in front of you, with the Eiffel Tower just beyond the Seine River, all seemingly at your fingertips. Do the Trocadero view, even if you wind up going up the tower as well!

I went last June to the top of the tower at 8:00 pm. I booked my tickets ahead of time online which I recommend. I did not have to wait in any lines. When I got to the top there were not a lot of people and I did enjoy the view and took some nice photos from that viewpoint. As I got ready to descend it got noticeably more crowded and I was glad I had arrived sooner. It was still light out, so I did not see it with all the lights or the light show. Arriving back at my hotel I did see it all lit up, but from afar. Was the ticket cost worth it? I would say yes in that now I can say I went up the tower once and probably don't have to go up again in the future.

I’ve been up twice and enjoyed the view. Once we got first slot at opening and had no crowd on the top for a little while. The first elevator was me, my husband and a tour guide with about 20 people - at the top they grouped around her on one side while we had the other three sides for just us! Great memory.

Second time we went just before sunset and stayed on the top until it was dark. Then spent some time on the second level where we could see the tower above us twinkle at the top of the hour. Then we walked down, very nice visit.

Buy tickets now if your date is fixed. Things may have changed - they did sell tickets on site for each day but the lines were ridiculously long versus walking directly to a small queue for the elevator.

Enjoy the planning and the trip!

I don't think you have quite understood how important it is to buy now if you want those tickets. They can sell out quickly.
