Is G7 like uber here?

G7 is a taxi company, the largest in France. Alpha is a second, much smaller taxi company. Taxi companies are licensed and operated under rules of the local Préfecture de Police.

Uber is a VTC (Voiture de transport avec chauffeur), and operates differently. There are a number of VTCs available in Paris:

1. Kapten
2. Bolt
3. Snapcar
4. Lecab

To avoid the 7€ dispatch fee when arranging for taxi transportation to the airport, I typically reserve with Snapcar or Lecab.

The G7 app works more or less like Uber, that is it knows where you are and tells you where your taxi is. Contrary to Uber, the prices are legally set, so there is no doubling of the price when there is a problem, and for airports there also is a set fee.

So if you worry about language, not only the driver is likely to speak some English, but even if he doesn't you only need set the desired address in the app and that is it.

Uber pushed taxis to clean up their act, so now you should be fine, and there also is a VIP option on G7 for a few euros extra if you wish.

I used G7 for a return to CDG airport in September 2019, all on the app. Seamless and no problems even at an insanely early hour of the morning. Make them aware of your need to accommodate 6 passengers.

I used the G7 app in the same way I’d use Uber or Lyft. It was great. When I scheduled a booking for a later time, a few minutes before the scheduled time I’d see which particular taxi got assigned. The app shows you your taxi’s location on a map.
