We are planning to be in Paris and found an apartment in that area. Wondering if it is a best place to stay for family? If not, what other places would you recommend? Thanks
Almost any where in Paris is "safe" for a family. Bastille area is nice with good transportation options on the Metro. Google the street address to an exact location as "Bastille area" is a pretty broad description. You can use streetview to "walk around" the neighborhood and check it out.
It is a perfectly fine, even trendy, arrondissement, and you can take bus No 69 directly to the Eiffel Tower from Bastille. Or going in the opposite direction, the 69 will take you to Pere Lachaise cemetery. Lots of restaurants, and behind the Opera house, the Jardin Plantee.
The Bastille area is nice, the only drawback is that it can get a little loud in some areas at night, but that's just a big city for you. But you are in a great location right near the Marais, one of our favorite neighborhoods. Lots of great restaurants, funky shops and tons of culture.
