iPhone SIM cards in France

I could swear that I recently read (in the Travel Tips section) that the "nano" SIM chips that iPhones use might be hard to find in France. Now I can't find any such thing mentioned.

We will use the phone for navigating, maybe some RS self-guided tours, but don't plan on making many phone calls because I quickly get in over my head trying to converse in French on the phone.

Does anyone have recent experience using an iPhone in France, either with a French SIM card or using an overseas roaming plan from your U.S. provider?

For our trip in 2012 we used our US provider and were surprised by the additional costs once we got home. For this trip, I purchased a SIM for my iPhone 5C from LeFrenchMobile (http://www.lefrenchmobile.com) and I received my new nano SIM card within a week. I received 1 Gig of data for a week for 22 Euros which is a lot cheaper than our last visit. I did have to verify that my phone was "unlocked" and will be trying it in July.

Rest assured that iPhones are used all over the world and that their cards are universally available at any phone store.

I use my provider's international plan and it works like a charm.

Thanks for the helpful info.

For what it's worth, I found the quote I was referring to. It wasn't in the Travel Tips section after all, but it appears in both the France 2014 and Paris 2014 RS guidebooks: "Note that smaller 'micro-SIM' or 'nano-SIM' cards - used in some iPhones - are less widely available."

Looks like that's not actually true. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks, all. The other half of that nano-sim quote is "look for them in mobile-phone shops, not newsstands."
