Confused? Flying in and out of CDG, in Paris for five nights with my 11 year old. Can you buy Navigo at CDG, does it include transportation from CDG to Paris? Also want to go to Versailles and not clear if Navigo easy card includes getting to Versailles? Card and Paris Museum Pass all digital on iphone?
Thanks
None of this works on the Iphone i.e. Navigo Easy or Decouverte
There are two products tourists can buy -- the Navigo Easy and the Navigo Decouverte. If your 5 nights are between Mon-Sun of one week then the ND is what you want as it takes you anywhere in the Ile de france including from the airport. Costs 5 Euro and a week pass is 30 Euro -- it will take you to and from CDG and to Versailles.
If your days lap over the weekend then there is no good pass for you but for your child the Paris Visite children's pass for 5 days and all 5 zones is a good deal. The adult version is not cost effective. Kids age out of children's tickets at age 10 but the visite child's pass goes up to age 12.
The Navigo Easy ONLY takes day passes or metro tickets. If you load 10 metro tickets you get a big discount. It will not take you from CDG or to Versailles -- for those you buy individual tickets. CDG/Paris costs 11.45 each. Versailles is about 4 Euro or so each way -- you would buy 4 tickets -- two for yourself and two for your child -- one each way.
The Navigo Decouverte if it fits your dates would be perfect -- it requires a head show 25/30 MM sort of postage stamp size which you can print at home and clip and bring with. You buy it from the RER window and assemble it (if they don't do it for you which with a line they may not) and are good to go. The clerk will put the pass on for you, but you may have to assemble the cards into the case, afix the photo etc.
Think twice about buying a Museum Pass; they are rarely worth the bother anymore now that most places require reservations (and the louvre has limited slots for pass holders). I don't know if they can be loaded on a phone. I know tickets can be.
We fly in on Tues and depart Sat. So, decouverte sounds great. We buy the card and then we glue our photo on? So, 5 for card and 30 to load for the week? Is this per person? Same rate for an 11 year old child? So, 70 euro total for transportation to and from CDG and Versailles and all over Paris? Sounds like a good deal.
What do you mean the clerk will put the pass on for you with Decouverte? Thanks for the heads up on museum pass. Just thought it might be easier than tickets for entry at each site including Versailles. Each attraction/museum requires reservations now?

So, 5 for card and 30 to load for the week? Yes; includes the bus system too (but not Roissy bus from the airport)

Same rate for an 11 year old child? This i don't know.

parisbytrain.com is a great resource for this stuff to.
What do you mean the clerk will put the pass on for you with Decouverte? If you purchase the Navigo card at the CDG office (train station area), they will frequently glue the pass to your card for you, there is some assembly. They may not, if they're busy.
Thanks for the heads up on museum pass. Just thought it might be easier than tickets for entry at each site including Versailles. Each attraction/museum requires reservations now? No, not every museum requires, you have to check - https://www.parismuseumpass.fr/t-en/r%C3%89servation/cr%C3%89neaux-horaires

There is only one price. Those 4 and under travel free. French children have different Navigo cards.

The Navigo Découverte is a CARD, not a pass. Whatever pass value you may want is added to the card separately. At sales windows, the agent can sell you a card and load it with the pass. At service windows, cards are loaded at the kiosk. You may also add a pass to a Navigo card via smartphone using the Bonjour RATP or Île-de-France Mobilité app, and a linked credit card.
Each attraction/museum requires reservations now?
Some do (le Louvre for example), others do not. You need to check the museum's website.

You purchase the ND card (5€), configuring it (name and photo) before use.

A zone 1-5 Navigo pass (day, weekly, or monthly), includes travel on the Roissybus, the Orlybus, métro, tramway, funicular, bus, RER, and TER trains within the Ile de France. The one train it does not include is the ORLYVAL.
So yeah, the Navigo decouverte is perfect for you. Bring head shots 25/30 mm about the size of a postage stamp. the kit for the card is 3 pieces. You put the photo where it says 'photo' -- it is sticky and print your name on the name line. You then fold a clear gummed plastic flap over photo and name and sandwich the chip card and the photo card together (it will be obvious there is a kind of hole on the card that helps you align them. The cards are then slid into the plastic case and you are done for 10 years. You can reload them next trip on a machine. Everyone has their own; they are stable and easy to use. Don't lose them as they are not replaceable -- you have to start over.
It is incredibly cheap; it was designed primarily for temporary workers in Paris and for locals who don't want to register a travel card (the local navigo card is registered, can be replaced etc -- some people don't like the sense they might be tracked). So there is no kids version, but it still cheap even with recent price increase for kids. Children's tickets are half price but only available to kids 4-9. From 10 on one is an adult for transport.
