International Greeters

I'm scheduled to do May walks with Greeters in Amboise and Paris. Int'l Greeters website asks for donations yet in FAQ's the statement re: cost is -
All Greets are completely free and always will be. We do not expect any kind of tipping. This is our spirit.

Has anyone used a greeter and what was your experience re: tipping? I don't want to offend but also wish to express appreciation for their time.

Well, they have said they don’t want tips, and yes they will be offended.

You could offer to take them out for a cocktail or something but dont be surprised if they refuse. A lot of these people are really giving amazing effort and going out of their comfort zones conducting a tour in English.

The organization will accept a donation. The Greeters are free.

Donations to the organization can be made when booking. Definitely don’t offer a tip. I’ve taken 4 Paris Greeter tours over the years. Each time I invited the guide for a drink, and the only one who accepted was the first time. You can verbally express your appreciation as well.
