Inside or outside Arles?

I have an airbnb just outside Arles, its a 20 min walk or a 5 min drive. I am thinking of keeping this to as my base to explore the region as I have a car. I have 4 days. I am not in a rush as i have a month to travel.

Just checking if others have used this as a base and thoughts on staying outside of the town rather than staying inside. Obviously the benefit is cheaper outside but wondering if its too inconvenient? Any input would be appreciated.

I'd suggest doing some independent validation of that walking time. A 20-minute walk is about a mile. It would rarely take 5 minutes to drive one mile, so I wonder whether the distance is considerably farther than a mile. That wouldn't matter in a car, if it's really 2 miles, you're looking at a 35- to 40-minute walk, which would get old very fast.

I like staying in neighborhoods, but you may want to factor in the following:
Twenty minutes to Arles city limit or Arles city center? That's a big difference. If it's to the city outskirts and you drive, how much will parking cost?

I’m not familiar with the logistics you’re concerned about, but if you do opt to move into town you might consider the Hotel de L’amphitheatre. We enjoyed our stay there a few years ago. Friendly and helpful staff, breakfast option, air conditioned and a comfortable, very large double room. The hotel had an arrangement with the municipal garage on a main thoroughfare which made for easy driving in and out of town. It was maybe a 5 minute walk and partly through the lovely city garden. Parking was available closer as I recall, but we didn’t want to drive the narrow streets. We loved Arles and drove some days to tour the region or took the train to Avignon and to L’Isle sur la Sorgue. Safe travels.

The outskirts of Arles aren't particularly attractive overall... Key question is, 20 min walk to where? For instance, if it is, say, 20 min to the train station, that means 40 min to the actual city centre.
If you're able to come back with this info, we can give better advice
