Info on Turckheim

Hello
We will be in Colmar this July, and are thinking of see the small town of Turckheim, for a couple of hrs.
First of all does anyone know if it is worth seeing the town of Turckheim ?
Secondly, are there multiple train there and back to Colmar each day?
Reason I ask is,, Rome2Rio show many trains all day, SNCF trains.
But when I search SNCF, it only shows 2 trains a day, I'm not sure if this is because its winter time now,
and maybe summer has more trains??
If anyone has some knowledge of these 2 questions, pls let me know.
Thanks

I was in Turckheim about 10 years ago in September. Beautiful small town with flower window boxes everywhere. The main purpose was to visit the Colmar Pocket museum. This was primarily a French Military operation, but several American divisions were involved. Including Audie Murphy's who won his Congressional Medal of Honor not far from there.

We Americans don't hear too much about this battle because it happened simultaneous to the Battle of the Bulge.

Anyway it is mostly in French, as you would expect, but some interesting exhibits. Best was a news real of Charles DeGaulle exhorting the citizens of Colmar "Hold on, we are coming." You can bet that one was in French.

Seems like trains will be more frequent in summer. Look at buses as well.

We visited Turckheim in the afternoon last July. It’s a lovely town. I was shocked that it was almost completely empty. We wandered and wandered and saw only one other group of tourists. Quite a change from the other more popular villages. Considering that it is accessible by train, I was very surprised (we arrived by car). I would definitely recommend it. I’m guessing that the train schedules for July just haven’t been released yet. When I look at the SNCF app for next week, there are trains about every half hour.

I stayed in Colmar in March 2022 and visited Turckheim by train one day. There were lots of trains that day, and it was a quick and easy trip. There were hardly any tourists and very little was open, but it was a charming town to walk around for a couple of hours. I would think there would be restaurants open in July, which would make it even more enjoyable.

We two visited Turkheim (by car) in Sep 2017, as part of a route visiting other villages. It was our favorite stop, and there were fewer tourists than the other places we visited. We did not visit the Colmar Pocket military museum. Excerpt from our trip report:

Turckheim, another beautiful village on the Wine Route. Less touristy, and as pretty as Eguisheim. We stopped at the Tourist Information Office just inside the town gate and picked up a walking tour map. As we walked the town perimeter, we came across a box of organic grapes on a doorstep with a sign that welcomed passersby to take some. Delicious! For lunch we had an Alsatian specialty, Flammekueche, with beer at an outdoor table at the Caveau la Forge restaurant. The other patrons seemed to be German visitors.

Don't use Rome2Rio for information on trains. The data it displays about fares, travel times and frequencies can be wildly off-base. Go to SNCFConnect for accurate information. As others have indicated, the schedule may change between now and July. I believe there's a schedule adjustment in the first half of June.
