I will be touring Paris July 29 - August 6. My hotel in in Le Marais and I would like advice on restaurants in the area.
Can anyone offer suggestions?

There are wonderful, inexpensive falafel places on the Rue des Rosiers.
There's a big market on Thursday and Sunday, Marché Bastille, from 7 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. with a big selection of prepared foods, especially North African. Robert et Louise was recommended to me for their relatively inexpensive lunch plat du jour, but when I checked it out, it was only offered 2 or 3 days in midweek, so it didn't work out for me. There's a Monoprix on the Rue de Rivoli, just about opposite Hotel Sully. You can pick up ready-made sandwiches and salads or put together your own picnic lunches. There are a few cheaper eateries along that street between Place de la Bastille and the St Paul metro station. Try Momo's Pizzeria there. It's always crowded and not expensive. Good salads and pastas too, reasonable house wine. There are bakeries all over that have both sweet and savory options. I didn't find any of the restaurants to be particularly cheap.
I'll second the falafel places! Las du Falafel and Chez Marianne
L'As du Falafel in the Marais. Fantastic!
There used to be a reasonable, slightly upscale café in the Place de Vosges, on the corner diagnonally across the park from the Victor Hugo house.
Usually when I have been walking the area, I am just as happy to fall back on poule-frites in a place with good people-watching.
Le Cidrerie de Marais you can get their crepe of the day and a cup of cidre for 10€-weekdays only, no special on the weekends. It is right off Rue de Rivoli, directly up the street opposite Church St. Paul.
In addition to L'As du Falafel, my favorite place in the Marias, Les Philosophes and sister restaurant Le Petit Fer a Cheval, on rue Vielle du Temple are popular and good. Also suggest Cafe Hugo in the Place des Vosges. Lizard Lounge, Le Petit St. Paul on rue St. Paul.
You can get more info about these places on TripAdvisor.
Pain ,Vin , Fromage, a fondue place! So well reviewed, we will try it this time for sure, last time we went it was full, and we hadn't made reservations ( which are not always needed, but it was a weekend)
On Rue Geoffroy-L'Angevin near the Pomidou !
Also the Las Falafels was awesome( sorry that may be misspelled,, but you will know it when you see it as there is always a line there, unlike many if the other places!)
Not a falafel fan at all.
Near the Bastille you'll find many restaurants.
On the upper end you'll have Brasserie Bofinger - a gorgeous restaurant with prices that aren't bad. But in the mid-line chains you will have places like Chez Clement, Leon de Bruxelles, and Hippopotamus .
Check out Le Marché des Enfants Rouge on Rue Charlot. It's the oldest market in Paris and has wonderful eats at a reasonable price for lunch. We were lucky enough to have rented a place for some time next door. I still go back even when not staying in the area. It's not fancy as you are buying from the vendors and sitting at communal tables but you can try a variety of things. Agree with others on the falafel, good and cheap, even if a little over rated by some, I still love it.
buy cheese and wine at Monoprix.
Light a candle at the hotel room.
And then?
Asian carry-out counters are fairly common in the Marais, economical and bland.
One of the more memorable meals we had in the Marais was at Vins des Pyrénées. It is a cosy bistro that is patronized by locals as well as tourists. I wouldn't call it inexpensive but it is reasonable and the food and atmosphere was excellent.
We enjoyed two lovely, well-priced dinners at the RS recommended Le Marche and Au Bistrot de la Place on a very pretty square in the Marais called Place du Marche Ste. Catherine.
Le Moulin de Rosa is at the corner of Rue de Turenne and Rue du Foin. Good neighborhood bakery with reasonably priced fruit tarts, savory items, etc and great fresh orange juice. They also will have sandwiches ready to go, makes a good morning stop and not crazy expensive.
taking lots of notes....thank you all.....thank OP
