My son is studying abroad this summer with his college and has about a week to spend in Paris the first week of August. Any suggestions on inexpensive but good accommodation for him and a couple friends?
Thank you!
How much a night do you want to pay?
Do you prefer a bathroom ensuite or is one down the hall ok?
My niece always stays here.
Here's another budget one south of the river that I've stayed at in my younger days: http://www.hotel-tolbiac.com/
2 thumbs up for https://www.hotel-marignan.com/ (rue sommerard in the LQ, not the champs elysees).
In Paris I always stay in a small hotel in the Gare du Nord area.
There is a hostel ca. 18 mins walk or so from Nord on Rue de Dunkerque heading towards the 9th Arrond., the Vintage Hostel, have checked it out a few times, .... nice, decent neighborhood too It's basically located on the boundary between the 9th and 10th Arrond.

I second this. I took a group of people young people to Paris several years ago and we stayed here. It’s great for young people. It’s got a laundry, has kitchen they can use and it’s also a great place to meet other people the same age
Have them look up hostelworld.com and choose one with reviews of 8.5 plus.
This advice was offered by Gabe at Rick Steves tours and i have used it successfully many times.
