In St Remy and need recommendations for time here!

Hi all-we have had a most amazing trip so far thanks to so many suggestions from this site! We arrived in St Remy today by car and have 3 full days here. We return our car in Avignon Sunday and will spend time there before hopping on the train to Carcassonne. We would like to visit Les Baux/Pont du Gard/Arles/Orange/Vaison/Roussillin as well as St Remy. We realize this is over ambitious! Would you share suggestions and help us prioritize our options based on possible similar places? Also, which places make sense to visit in one trip from St Remy? Merci beaucoup!

If you feel you are short on time and you still want to see Roman ruins without going all the way to PDG or Orange there is just south of St Remy the wonderful ancient Roman town of Glanum. A small museum in the Hotel de Sade in St Remy also has some of finds from there. And if you don't want to go as far as Arles but still want to see Van Gogh the asylum St Paul de Mausole he spent a year in is very near SR. You can walk from town its about one mile maybe less and there are plaques along the way with the paintings in the setting they were painted in. Glanum is right next to the asylum. If you would rather not walk there is easy parking for both at the site or in a very large parking lot on the other side the road from their entrances.

Basically:

  • Arles and Les Baux takes a day. Start with Les Baux, unless it's a Saturday ie market day in Arles, when you'll want to go and park early.
  • Pont du Gard and Orange takes another day. Start with either.
  • Roussillon should be combined with one or two other Luberon villages, such as Gordes and Joucas, or Lacoste (avoid if rainy, streets are slippery) and Goult.
  • Vaison is a bit further away. It would combine well with Orange but you would then have to skip Pont du Gard, which would be a shame. I would be inclined towards skipping Vaison.
  • Saint Rémy itself can fit whenever there is spare time. You don't need a ton of time to see the town, unless you want to visit Glanum too.

In Les Baux the castle is great fun. But there are also three churches that are quite lovely, one with beautiful stained glass and a good brochure in English explaining all. And the museum Yves Brayer. His own art is very interesting. They also have good special exhibits including right now the photographer Robert Doisneau. I had a great time just wandering around the quieter streets there too.
