In Paris over Easter...

My family and I will be in Paris during Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Monday. Any advice on what will be closed? Thanks.

If you are not getting any responses for what is closed during your time in Paris, I would suggest you make a list of what you want to visit and then go on line for each museum and place and see what their website says about closings or early closings. I doubt anyone living in the states knows what's closed in Paris until they research it. Also what may have been closed last year, may have reduced hours or be open this year. Things change sometimes from year to year. I would also try to make dinner reservations now for places to eat just in case there are few place open on Easter Sunday. Have a great time!

My recollection from a visit over Easter a few years back was that nothing official, like museums, was closed for the holidays. I think some restaurants were either closed or busy with private parties, but that didn't really affect us. Churches of course would be having special services. France is a very secular country as far as government and public matters go.

Most cathedrals and churches will be OPEN on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. One of our very best travel memories was the Easter Sunday service at the American Church in Paris several years ago. We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed the interdenominational service --in English. At the conclusion an invitation was extended to anyone who knew Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" to come up and sing with the choir, accompanied by their magnificent organ. We joined in enthusiastically. It was a truly wonderful and moving experience, followed by an informal breakfast with our new-found friends. I hope they continue the tradition today. Check the schedule for times as there will be more than one service. It is easy to find in the Rue Cler neighborhood.
