Hello Travel Community, I will be in France in late April for 8 days (This will be my third trip). I want to either travel to Normandy for 2 nights or to Colmar in Alsace and thought of going to one or the other directly from CDG so that I could end the trip in Paris. But, after the TransAtlantic flight, I don’t want to be on a train for an additional 3 to 5+ hours. So, am thinking of traveling to one, or the other, from Paris (after a couple days there) and returning to Paris a few days before flying home. If I visit Normandy, am thinking of staying either in Bayeux, Caen or Honfleur. I’ve viewed prior travel topics re: Normandy and am thinking of possibly renting a car from Paris, if not in Bayeux. If I travel to Colmar, am thinking of training it there. It’s not convenient traveling back to Paris to fly home, but I don’t see an alternative that doesn’t involve so much upfront travel time. I guess I could end my trip in Colmar and train it to CDG to fly home. I would appreciate anyone’s thoughts on the subject. Thanks in advance.
I don't understand why you say it's not convenient to travel from Colmar back to Paris. There are direct trains from Colmar to Paris Gare de l'Est in 2+ hours and there are trains with a change in Strasbourg to both CDG and Gare de l'Est in about 3 hours.
JeanM, perhaps “undesirable” is better than “not convenient.”
