And it’s not a problem. We are in Paris, have been to many restaurants and sites, they all are accepting the CDC card. (We applied twice, before and after the new app, and never received it). No problem! Also, no lines. The French are being careful, everyone in the subway and inside spaces is wearing a surgical mask. Restaurants and stores have hand sanitizer. It’s all good, really. If you have plans to travel here, do! It’s all good. Bon voyage!
Thanks so much for the on-the-ground report!
AND glad you are having a great time in Paris!
Thank you so much for your 'on the ground' report! We have plans to travel to France on September 26th and have applied for the QR codes already and hope they arrive. We have been very apprehensive, but the more reports like yours are posted, the better we feel. Thank you again for taking the time out of your wonderful trip to think of your fellow travelers-to-be back home. Bonne Journee!
Thank you step!! We’ll be there soon.
I'll be arriving later this week (no health pass yet) but I'm encouraged by the positive reports! Can't wait.
So grateful for positive news from your time in France! Helps with our decision for leaving on Oct 1. So encouraged I just made a hotel reservation I had been apprehensive to make. Thanks for your encouragement! Keep on enjoying!!!
Thank you so much for this post. We are scheduled to leave for Paris one week from today. We have not received our QR code’s yet and have been concerned about travel without them, and with the whole CoVid situation. We’re very eager to go, and your post has made me feel much better about our trip!
This is good news.
However, I strongly recommend traveller email each hotel or restaurant they intend to patronize on their trip to ensure that these establishments will accept the CDC card in lieu of a "pass sanitaire". We are set to leave Sept 11 for a month, all in France since that's where we could get a direct nonstop flight to (seemed safer than crossing borders) . Out of 12 hotels we booked, all except 2 have confirmed they will accept the CDC card for the lodging and their restaurants (most places have top-rated restaurants and 4 have Michelin stars). Both hotels with which we had an issue are on the Cota D'Azur (french riviera). One hotel in Menton, the Westminster, flat refused the CDC cards and even demanded a 48hr test. Obviously that's ridiculous and there is an issue there. The other, near St. Tropez, will allow us in with the CDC card, but we cannot use the common areas or dining. They will serve us in the room.
So, check directly with hotels and be prepared. We will probably go ahead and take the trip at this point....
I too have had no problems. Some signage says they will only accept EU health cents, but they look at our Canadian cards to see the dates and the type of vaccine and we are in. We also have not been pre-booking time slots and have had no waits. Most sites are much less crowded than in the past. We had to wait a bit at the Eiffel Tower but not too long. We have been to the Conciergerie, the Archeological Crypt, Ste. Chapelle, and many restaurants. I check out the site in the morning and if they have lots of open times, we just show up. We did book a slot for the Louvre, to ensure because there were a lot of reservations showing. Enjoy!
We leave Sept. 10 for Paris and are so encouraged by the above posts. We have not received our QR code yet and were hoping our CDC card will get us into venues.
True, possumracing, we’re only in Paris, can’t speak to rest of France. In Paris, CDC card accepted 100% so far (hotel, restaurants, museums, other sites) Re: lines: have been places when they open and there have literally been no lines. For instance Eiffel tower, catacombs. Pre booked for D’Orsay but didn’t need to because, no line. In the middle of the day.
I was nervous before we left but didn’t want to cancel (again), and am very glad we went for it.
"Pre booked for D’Orsay but didn’t need to because, no line. In the middle of the day."
Wow, that is astonishing. Did it look like the ticket windows were open so you could buy onsite or did you not notice?
Thank you for update. We arrive in Paris Thursday morning and have never received our Health Pass so this puts me to ease. I also heard from a few colleagues that we could visit a pharmacy and for a small fee, convert our CDC cards to a Health Pass on site. Pharmacie Les Filles du Calvaire at 2 Bd des Filles du Calvaire, 75011 (eastern edge of Marais). We may try this as a back up.
@Pam I guess I didn’t notice but nothing looked closed. I did not prebook for Eiffel Tower and that was not a problem. I think it was that not busy.
I went to the Orsay twice, in Sept and Oct of 2019, on a Thursday afternoon and there was no line both times. Went to Versailles in Sept 2019, no line. It does happen, even pre-covid.
“* I think it was that not busy.*”
Thanks. Sounds wonderful!
Thank you so much for the update. We arrive Sunday 9/12 in Paris, applied for our passes Sept 1st and nothing received as of today 9/8, so this is very reassuring.
I applied on 8-31 and at that time it said 9 days to process applications. Now its saying 11 days. They must be getting a ton of applications.
This is promising! We flight out Spet 11, landing Sept 12 without the Pass quite yet. I alerted our hotel and they said "we will work it out" I imagine they didn't want to put it all in writing.
So many of us there at the same time! Toss out names of good cafes and restaraunts!
Would be fun to see a face from the forum!
We will be in Paris until the 16th and head to an art residency but will stop in Reim on Sept 30th, I imagine we should have it by then! Possibly reapply if not because we are already in France?
Thank you for keeping us up to date!
Applied for my health pass last night. Fingers crossed it is a quick process
Starting 9/12/21 everyone will require the QR code. CDC cards will no longer be accepted.
Once in France, a health passport is required for access venues including bars, cafés, tourist sites and long-distance train travel. For this the CDC vaccine card is not accepted, so a French QR code is required
Will are scheduled to arrive at CDG on 9/25. Much of our travel will be via TGV trains. Yesterday the SNCF website indicated acceptance of alternative (to the health pass) proof of vaccination. Today the language has changed to indicate strict requirement of the Pass Sanitaire. If we don't receive our QR codes by the morning of 9/23 we will have to cancel the entire journey.
@ TravelOrRust, there is an alternative to cancelling which is to take a Covid test and get a pass that is good for three days. And you still have time to get your pass. When did you apply?
It would be possible to rent a car although it would take 3 times as long to drive to St. Remy de Provence. But I'm also seeing reports that the CDC card will no longer be accepted at restaurants and other venues beginning 9/12. So the mode of travel would be the least of our problems. Also, I understand about the 3-day health pass upon passing a Rapid Antigen test. But I wouldn't want to repeat that process five times over the 15 days that we will be in France. I've spent way too much time stressing over this CDC Vaccination Card-Health Pass conversion issue already. I don't plan to spend 15 days in France stressing over it also. Virtually everything we've booked can be cancelled for full refund as of 9/23. We'll just go spend a week or so on a beach somewhere and revisit France when it's more convenient.
We applied for the health pass via email about 8/23 and via the website process on 9/3.
