Impressionist Walking Tour

Any recommendations on walking tours in Paris or outskirts which focus on Impressionist artists? I am particularly interested in works by Camille Pissarro in Pontoise or l'Hermitage (outside of Paris). Will be visiting in early November.

Thanks!

There are several books that might be useful. I got one of them many years ago, but never used it. Do a book search for "Impressionists Paris" and you'll find some.

Robert, thanks for the reply. I have two of those type books myself but was hoping to learn about an established tour--guided or not. I understand that the Tourist Office in Pontoise may offer guided walks and maps but have not been able to confirm online as I had hoped (for advanced planning).

If you are interested in impressionist art in general, don't overlook the Muse Orsay in Paris.

If your budget is liberal enough, Tours By Locals Paris will do customized tours such as what you want but they are quite pricey.

I don't have a walking tour reco but consider the Musee Marmatton in the 16th. I haven't been yet but am planning on it when I return to Paris this coming spring (my 3rd trip in 5 years).

Check out Paris Greeters. We booked a tour and were thrilled - the tour guide was a local retiree (they are volunteers and do not get paid) who was extremely knowledgeable about architecture (I never knew there were Roman baths in Paris for instance). The good thing about the greeters: you put in your (detailed) request and then wait for a response. We declined our first "offer" because it was not in the neighborhood we requested. Soon another offer came along and we happily accepted. This greeter told us he actually walked the tour the day before our meet to scope out sheltered areas, since it was going to rain on our agreed date. Imagine!

If you do book this, be specific about what you want, and of course they encourage donations.

Enjoy!
