IHG Paris hotel

Hey guys, my husband and I will be in Paris for 4 nights in September. We will be arriving by train from London and departing Paris for Munich via train. I have IHG points to use for the hotel but wasn't sure which location was the best. I was looking at HI-Notre Dame, Hotel Indigo, or either one of the Intercontinental hotels (Le Grand or Marceau) but wasn't sure which location was the best. Our itinerary includes day trip to Normandy, Disney (I'm a huge fan), maybe a day trip to Reims and will spend the rest of the time doing basic tourist things. Thank you guys for helping out.

Unless somehow you are getting them all for the same price or number of points, I would drop the Intercontinental Le Grand and Intercontinental Marceau. I am all for splurging on hotels but I think these two are overpriced for what you get and I am not a fan of the Marceau's location. I'd pick either the HI-Notre Dame (great roof bar, reservations required) because it has the best location of the places you mention. You are going to be in Paris for four nights and plan to spend most of your time traveling out of town so I suggest choosing the most central location for the few hours that you will have in Paris itself.

I'll add an answer you didn't ask for, lol.

Four nights = 3 full days for touring plus maybe an afternoon when you arrive from London. I'd seriously reconsider the day trip to Reims and spend that time in Paris. I'm personally not a fan of doing the Normandie beaches as a day trip (SO much to see there!) but I know many do. You may have done your research on Disney so you will already know how to frame your expectations there.

Sounds like a full trip!

Thank you. The Reims trip wasn't 100% agreed upon but just a consideration. And the intercontinental hotels cost more points than the HI hotels. Good to know about the bar at the Notre Dame location.

We liked the Holiday Inn-Montmarte. It's a little farther out and a bit of a walk from the nearest Metro station but actually has a nice neighborhood feel (Skip the hotel breakfast and pick up things in the shops on the street) and is a few steps back from the tourist rush. The rooms on the back of the hotel open up to a small slice of green space where kids from adjacent apartment buildings play a bit of soccer.

The HI Notre Dame is in a great location, rooms are nice (although small), and it has a rooftop deck. I stayed there one night using my annual free hotel night (before they started excluding high point hotels). However, it is very difficult to book with points, so I’d first check your choices to see of they have rooms available. This would probably be my first choice.

I haven’t stayed at the Indigo in Paris, but I’ve stayed at three different Indigos in London and I like the amenities in that chain.

I’ve also stayed at the IC Le Grand. I was in a huge room overlooking the Opera House. I also stayed here for just one night on a free night. This location is convenient for the bus to CDG which departs from the Opera, but i don’t really care for this location in general.

I use Google Maps to see what's around a hotel location, particularly the Metro service. Being near a Metro stop, particularly a station with two or more lines, can save time on a tight schedule.
