I am planning on buying a 6-day Museum pass, and I was wondering if I could use it to go to the Louvre on two separate days. That would allow us to enjoy a section, then come back another day. There is so much to see that it can be overwhelming.
Absolutely! That's the beauty of having the pass. You can visit as many times as you wish during the x day period. The first time I visited the key museums with the pass, I went back to the louvre at least 4 times over a 10 day vacation and orsay twice.
There's so much to see. I tend to gravitate towards certain rooms at the louvre after a few visits. You will soon discover your favorites. Enjoy!
The only place you may not be able to use it twice (that I am aware of) is Napoleons Tomb. (and why would you want to go there twice, small, easy to see and quick). That was the one place that "marked" our pass and gave us the impression that we had "used up" our visiting rights. The rest of the museums at Invalides were like all the others...just looked at the pass to make sure it was valid for that day.
I've used it multiple times on the same trip for the Louvre for the same reason.
Also nice to just go to the cafés. Or hang in the Rodin Museum garden.
Interesting that it would get marked at Napoleon's Tomb. I hope they don't go to a scanner system so that particular advantage is taken away.
You can also use it to pop into lesser visited museums since most have a snack bar with cold drinks at reasonable prices and the all important restrooms.
Yes, I'm in Paris now and just did that with the pass.
YES! We went to the Louvre 3 times on our 6-day pass, and it was really nice to just be able to drop in for awhile on the evenings it was open late. Also nice is being able to see Paris from the top of the Arc de Triomphe during the day and after dark as well. This particular pass is one of the few we found WELL worth the $$: would buy it again in a minute.
Regarding the pass getting marked... I've also had my pass getting marked while visiting museums.. etc. However, I've never had any problem returning the same museums/monuments with the same pass, e.g. the Louvre, the Arc, Rodin museum, Orsay.. just to name a few.
My guess is that some sites do mark the pass as you enter... as a check to see the date of first use and the validity of the pass. It doesn't appear to limit the number of visits. I think it'd really defeat the purpose of the pass if that'd ever be the case.
Thank you all so much for your help. It is so nice to know that I can revisit museums or monuments. A lot of people and books say do not go the the Louvre on Monday because it is so crowded. So, what is a good option for Mondays in Paris?
